May Days Play Days

May is always an exciting month on Anna Maria Island, filled with events, celebrations, and community pride. May 2013 was no exception, offering visitors and residents plenty of reasons to enjoy paradise.

The month kicked off with Food and Wine on Pine on May 4, featuring live music, local art, and delicious food and wine from top area chefs. The very next day, the 6th Annual Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce Wedding Festival brought together the island’s best caterers, florists, jewelers, DJs, photographers, and venues—perfect for anyone planning a dream wedding on Anna Maria Island.

May is also when Manatee County announces its Small Business of the Year Awards. Team Duncan was honored to be nominated and become a finalist alongside some of the area’s most respected businesses, and we congratulate all the winners and fellow nominees who help make our community thrive.

One of our favorite traditions, the Pace Center for Girls Duck Race, brought two days of family fun. The “Ducks in Paradise” Ducktail Party at Palmetto Riverside Bed and Breakfast offered food, music, games, and auctions, followed by the Lucky Ducky Race for PACE at the Bradenton Riverwalk, where over 15,000 rubber ducks raced down the Manatee River.

If you’re planning a spring getaway, May is one of the best times to visit Anna Maria Island. From festivals to food events and family-friendly activities, there’s always something happening. Be sure to book your Anna Maria Island vacation rental early so you don’t miss out on the island’s signature spring events.
