Tom Aposporos and his family have lived on Anna Maria Island since 1997. He was licensed as a Florida real estate broker in 1998 and has been a licensed real estate broker in New York since the 1970s. After decades of leading his personally-owned boutique brokerage firms, he joined Team Duncan as a broker associate. Tom added, “The opportunity to be part of a larger industry-leading, community-devoted office, and to have the support of other talented professionals, came at the perfect time in my life.”

Tom’s career is dotted with other accomplishments. He chaired Anna Maria’s Charter Review Commission which changed the city’s government to the current Mayor and Commission form, and he later served as a City Commissioner. He had previously been elected Mayor of his hometown of Poughkeepsie, New York, the youngest in its history, and served an unprecedented four terms. He later served the city on two different occasions as Acting Development Director, responsible for the planning, zoning, and redevelopment functions of the city government.

He has corporate banking experience once chairing Progressive Bank, Inc. (a publicly owned company), helping the company and its subsidiary bank to prosper during a turbulent time in the real estate economy.

From 2009 through 2012, he was Chief Executive of the Longboat Key Chamber of Commerce and co-founded the initial Longboat Key Foundation, whose work benefited Longboat’s residents and visitors.

Tom is a fervent supporter of the arts. He founded Theatre Odyssey, a nonprofit producing theater company in 2006, and works as an actor and director on stage, film, and is periodically seen in television commercials.
