I was so pleased to see that two local Sarasota celebrities, HGTV’s Design Star Contestant Jason Champion and “Chic on the Cheap” author Mark Dalton will face off on a home style competition for Manatee County Habitat for Humanity and unveil their designs for two Habitat homes on Saturday, November 14. The proceeds from this event will benefit the County’s Habitat and celebrate the building of their 100th home in a new 12-home community situated in Palmetto named Washington Park.

It seems that the $50.00 ticket for the opening night premier party is well worth the price of admission to get a first-hand glimpse of the unveiling of the two Design Challenge homes and mingle with the designers along with enjoying light bites, drinks and music. Or, if the opening isn’t your thing, for $10, you can choose instead to visit Washington Park, the Habitat’s 12-home community in Palmetto during Sunday, November 15 or Saturday, November 21 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and get a tour of the Challenge homes as well as attend workshops on home improvement, cooking and decorating. It’s rare that all of us, not just realtors, get to enjoy the joys of home building and ownership and applaud our local talent. Thank you Habitat and thank you Jason and Mark. Bravo!
