The week of the 4th of July is always a fun and busy time on Anna Maria Island. It is a time to celebrate America, be with family and friends and enjoy the glorious beaches of Anna Maria Island. Duncan Real Estate is just about fully booked for the week of the 4th.
Parade on Anna Maria Island
If you are staying with us during the week of the 4th of July, you might enjoy some of the exciting activities that are going on all day/night. Start your day off with the Anna Maria Island Privateers 4th of July Parade. The parade begins at 10 AM on the south end of Anna Maria Island at Coquina Beach and covers the entire Island all the way to Bay Front Park. It typically last two hours and is a really fun time – for both kids and adults. Make sure to wear your red, white and blue and sunscreen too!
Picnic on Anna Maria Island
Immediately following the parade, Picnic in the Park starts at Bayfront Park on the north end of Anna Maria Island. This picnic is free and will serve hot dogs, chip and drinks – it is free to all so make sure to come out! The kids can play on the playground while you enjoy taking a swim in the water. Bayfront Park offers plenty of shade and tables to enjoy a family picnic. Duncan Real Estate is right up the street from Bayfront Park – stop by and say hello to us.
Beach on Anna Maria Island
After your belly is full from the picnic, it may be time for you to sit and relax on the beach. Isn’t that why you are here on vacation! The white sands, crystal clear gulf water and a breeze that is hard to beat is all the more reason to take your family out to the beach and just enjoy all of it.
Fireworks on Anna Maria Island
Once the sun goes down and hopefully you have enjoyed the one of a kind Anna Maria Island sunset, stay at the beach as you will see the sky light up from the fireworks! The Sandbar Restaurant host the annual fireworks and puts on a wonderful show. You really can be sitting anywhere on the beach to enjoy them. The Sandbar does offer a VIP ticket with dinner, drinks, and first class seats for the fireworks, just call them at 941-778-0444 to reserve yours.
As you can see, Anna Maria Island offers so much for the 4th of July! Make sure to call Duncan Real Estate and a member of Team Duncan would love to help you book your next vacation. 941-779-0304

Where’s the green beer at?
Figuring out where to drink on St. Patrick’s Day can be a daunting task. Whether you’re staying at one of our vacation rentals or a resident on Anna Maria Island, we got you covered on where to go for the festivities.
Duffy’s Tavern has always been a staple on Anna Maria Island and their St. Patrick’s day celebrations do not fall short. Green beer and traditional dishes stay flowing all day Saturday to commemorate the Irish roots Duffy’s tavern was founded on. In the heart of Holmes Beach, Duffy’s Tavern is our top pick.
The newly opened Freckled Fin just around the corner is guaranteed to be a good time this Saturday. With Irish flags draped all around the edifice, we’re certain the traditional menu items will be amazing and the live music will be even better. If you can handle more than one stop on your boozy day we suggest hitting Duffy’s tavern in the day and Freckled Fin at night.
Bridge street is always known for the night life and St. Patrick’s day definitely won’t disappoint. You have options there. Hit Island Time for a cocktail, Blue Marlin for dinner, Sports for an after dinner drink, and the Drift-in if you want to keep the party going and make your Irish heritage proud.
Off the island, we got more options! Clancy’s will be packed more than a college bar offering penny beers on game day. Ask someone in Manatee County where to go on St. Patrick’s day and we would bet our lucky 4-leaf clover that they will say Clancy’s. It’s a sight to see so grab your phone call a Lyft and head there if you want some time on the mainland. Not too far away is Paddy Wagons. A relatively new bar located next to the Anna Maria Oyster Bar on Cortez. The green beer will be flowing and the crowd won’t be as bad as Clancy’s. Downtown is your 3rd option on the mainland. They block the street off and the surrounding bars all participate. Get a different perspective on the area. Our food recommendation there is O’Bricks (the name probably gives it away but they are definitely celebrating St. Pats) or Jennings Provisions. A new small plate and wine/beer bar. Maybe they will have green Lola wine?
Enjoy Saturday Irish or not and make sure to plan on watching the St Paddy’s Day parade on the island which is Sunday, march 18th beginning at 4:00 in Holmes Beach!
You can reach Duncan Real Estate at 941.779.0304 or send us a quick message here.
You will not want to miss out on the St Paddy’s Day Parade on Anna Maria Island. The date is set – Sunday, March 18th beginning at 4:00 PM. The parade will assemble in the Eat Here parking lot at Marina and Gulf Drives starting at about 2 and then travel north on Marina and Palm Drives, ending at 78th Street.
Years ago Sean Murphy loaded up his kids and neighborhood friends into an old green lawn trailer and carrying a parade permit and blasting music from a boom box, drove down the middle of Gulf Drive to the amusement of bystanders and vacationers! This was the 1st annual Anna Maria Island St Paddy’s Day Parade, according to Murphy, the owner of three Holmes Beach establishments – Beach Bistro, Eat Here and the Doctor’s Office.
A few years later, the parade had grown to include bands and floats and to attract thousands of paradegoers! Murphy invited everyone to “get with the St Pat Spirit” and join the parade – it is free to stroll with the bag pipers, pirates, leprechauns, marching bands and community groups. If you want to join in the parade fun as a participant, please call the Beach Bistro at 941-778-6444.
Duncan Real Estate has been in the parade for many years. This year, we decided to enjoy the parade from the streets and holler at all the floats and friends! We hope to see you all there too!!!
As I always say, Anna Maria Island always has such fun activities going on and the Anna Maria Chamber plays a big hand in this. The Trail of Treats started at the Chamber after school with a costume contest and then the kiddos were sent out with a list of businesses on Holmes Beach, Anna Maria and Bradenton Beach that were handing out candy!
The rush started coming around 5:30 and Team Duncan was ready to roll! We set up “shop” at our picnic table with Tootsie pops, necklaces/bracelets, and adult beverages! Let me tell you, the adult beverages were a hit! Over and over again, we heard that Duncan Real Estate was the best spot and most fun. We had several groups come back by for seconds (on the adult beverages more than the candy)!
Here are a few photos of the ladies of Team Duncan that worked Trail of Treats:
All of the kids were so cute and so polite! We had to tell them to take two tootsie pops! Take a look at all of the cuties we saw at the Trail of Treats!
As you can see, it was a blast! Hope to see you next year at the Anna Maria Island Trail of Treats!

The 4th of July is just a week away and we are getting everything ready for Team Duncan’s float in the 4th of July Parade! The parade beings at 10 AM on Coquina Beach and goes the entire length of the island until noon. We will be sharing our float with our friends at the Anna Maria Oyster Bar. Be on the lookout for beads, shirts, water guns, and a few surprises. The float is so much fun to be on and trust me, we get just as wet as you do. Make sure to have plenty of water and liquids to drink during the parade as it is the 4th of July and summer is here – which means it is hot!
Here are a few photos of the float from last year to get you excited about the parade this year! Make sure to give us a big wave when you see our Beach Theme float go by you.
Look forward to seeing you on the 4th!
The long Memorial Day weekend is always so much fun on Anna Maria Island. If you are not enjoying the beach for the day, you are more than likely on a boat at one of 3 places – Jewfish Key, Eggmont Key or Bird Key. All three of these places are super popular to go by boat and let me tell you, it felt like every boat owner was out over the weekend! I was lucky enough to go boating both Saturday and Sunday over the holiday weekend. Everyone brought a snack to share and what they wanted to drink. You literally can stand in the water and enjoy eating, drinking and hanging out with friends. You always see other people you know while on one of these keys! It really seems like the place to be not only over a holiday weekend but any weekend during the summer months! If you are not a boat owner, Anna Maria Island has plenty of marinas that offer boat rentals. We used Bradenton Beach Marina for our rental on Sunday and it was perfect! We picked up the boat at 12:30 and had it until 4:30. Just the right amount of time on the water! Plenty of seats, cup holders, covered seating, and storage! What more could you ask for. Here is a photo from Jewfish over Memorial Day Weekend! Hope to see you out there next time you are on the water! Sunny Regards, Ginger
May you and your family have a blessed Easter Holiday!
Visitors and locals are invited to participate in some Island Easter traditions, including the Easter Sunrise Service at Manatee County Beach, the Easter Egg Hunt at the Sandbar Restaurant and the Easter Egg Roll and Easter Bonnet Contest on Pine Ave. The celebration starts at 8:30 AM on Saturday, April 15th, with refreshments before the kids take their places on the beach. The hunt is open to kids 10 years old and under with baskets to collect their eggs. After the hunt, the Easter Bunny leads the kids and their families up to Pine Avenue for the 8th Annual Easter Egg Roll and Easter Bonnet Contest. There will be fun for the entire family with face painters, changes to roll eggs across a lane with a spoon and egg coloring. At 10:30, judges will look for winning Easter bonnets. The competition is open to kids and grownups alike.
On Sunday, April 16th, the 53rd Sunrise Service will take place at Manatee County Beach. The trolleys start running at 6 AM and the Anna Maria Beach Cafe will open at 6 AM for those needing coffee. All six of the Island’s churches participate in the service. Worshipers are urged to dress for the weather and brings a blanket or chairs to sit! There will be music to accompany the service!
Whew! Lots going on Easter weekend! We look forward to seeing you on Pine Ave
